VanVelzen is one of the most popular artists of the Netherlands. Known not only for his powerful pop/rock songs, and his strong voice, but mostly for his interacting with crowds during his live-shows.
His first single ‘Baby Get Higher’ jumpstarted his career, becoming the most played song on Dutch radio. Later his début album ‘Unwind’ entered at #1, remaining in the charts for a whopping 57 weeks and reaching platinum status. Successfully showing his songwriter skills VanVelzen wrote ‘When Summer Ends’ for a movie-soundtrack. The song went on to exceed the chart-success of his previous singles.
VanVelzen’s second album ‘Take Me In & Hear Me Out’ became gold. The single ‘Broken Tonight’ even got released worldwide in a remix of DJ Armin van Buuren. His output thus far earned him a Golden Harp for his contribution to Dutch popular music. And his third album is yet to come! It is expected in fall 2011.
On stage is where VanVelzen feels at home. While singing, he entertains the audience by playing guitar, piano and even drums, never failing in making the crowd feel part of the show. His performance on all major festivals in Holland for four summers straight, and selling out a 34 venue theatre tour, earned him a reputation as a heavyweight live act and a Radio 3FM Award for ‘Best Live-Act’.
